ANCHOR SCRIPTURE(S): ACTS 2:46–47; 5:42

MESSAGE TOPIC: DEDICATION TO THE HOUSE OF GOD

BY: DR. PAUL ENENCHE

SERVICE OBJECTIVES:

Understanding the virtues or profit of dedication to the House of God
Understanding the practical action of dedication to the House of God
One of the hallmarks of dedicated people throughout scripture and throughout history was their dedication or addiction to the House of God. Passion for God is always translated into passion for the House of God

SCRIPTURAL EXAMPLES OF DEDICATED PEOPLE THAT WERE ADDICTED TO THE HOUSE OF GOD:

David (Ps. 27:4; 122:1; 84:10)
Joshua (Ex. 33:11)

Paul the Apostle (Acts 17:1-2; Heb. 10:25)
The disciples (Acts 2:46; 5:42)

The Master Jesus (Luke 2:46; 4:16)
THE VIRTUES OR PROFIT OF DEDICATION TO THE HOUSE OF GOD:

The House of God is the place of Divine encounters (Gen. 28:12-13, 16-17; Ex.3:1-2; Isa. 2:2;Obad. 1:17; Lk. 1:5-13)
The House of God is a place of spiritual and supernatural strength (Ps. 84:7; 110:2; Isa. 52:1-2)

The House of God is a place of revelation and illumination (Ps. 73:17)
It is a place where you get clarification
The House of God is the place of refuge and preservation (Ps. 27:4-5; Acts 4:23; 12:5; Heb. 12:22-24; Ps. 34:7)
The House of God is the place of Blessing and flourishing (Ps. 92:12-13; Ps. 133:1-3; Obad. 1:17)

You don’t run from church to jam blessing
The House of God is the place of wholeness and deliverance (Obad. 1:17; Matt. 21:14; Luke 13:11-13)

It is the place where chains are broken and deliverance is received
If your affliction cannot stop your dedication to God, then your dedication to God will sooner or later swallow up your affliction!

The House of God is the place of commitment and consecration (Heb. 10:25-26; Ps. 89:7; Prov. 8:13)
Every time you hang around the House of God, iron sharpens iron
The best of man comes out in the Presence of God and the worst of man is released outside of God

OUR PRACTICAL ACTION OF DEDICATION TO THE HOUSE OF GOD:

Be planted in the House of God (Ps.92:12-13)
Don’t remain a permanent visitor, spectator or stranger in the House of God; be involved!
For Church to affect your life, you must be committed

Be faithful to your Kingdom appointments (Acts 2:46;Matt. 6:33)
Don’t allow things to come in between you and your commitment to service
Let not distance stop you; the House of your Father can never be too far
Don’t let business appointments with a mortal man interfere with your appointment with God (Matt. 6:33)
Don’t let Christian television interfere with your physical connection to the House
To get apostolic results, we must follow apostolic patterns
Be committed to the Church in the House (Acts 2:46; 5:42)

House fellowship or Home cell is not a church doctrine, it is a scriptural ordinance and pattern. To follow the pattern of God, is see the results of God.

CONCLUSION:

Commitment to God and to His House is profitable both for time and for eternity
It is not a waste of time or life to be committed to God and His House

BIBLE PASSAGE: Jeremiah 18:1-10 KJV (RCCG Sunday School STUDENT Manual 12 May 2019)

1 The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,

2 Arise, and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words.

3 Then I went down to the potter’s house, and, behold, he wrought a work on the wheels.

4 And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.

5 Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,

6 O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the LORD. Behold, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel.

7 At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy it;

8 If that nation, against whom I have pronounced, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them.

9 And at what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it;

10 If it do evil in my sight, that it obey not my voice, then I will repent of the good, wherewith I said I would benefit them.

LESSON INTRODUCTION:

God’s original intention at creation was to make man a showpiece from ordinary dust (Gen. 1:26-27). However, man fell short of God’s expectation (Rom. 3:23). The mercy of God still prevails despite the cracks in our log of wood to make us fit into His showcase. Today, we shall examine some of God’s showpieces that got cracked and how the cracks were mended to make them masterpieces. God can do the same for you.

OUTLINES

  1. GOD’S SHOWPIECES
  2. CRACKED BUT MENDABLE

1. GOD’S SHOWPIECES

Every hardworking sculptor will want to display His showpiece. God also has His human showpieces. For instance, God boldly displayed Job before Satan as an outstanding sculpture. (Job 1:8).

God boasted of Abraham’s integrity for the world to emulate. (Gen. 18:9).
God showcased Elijah at Mount Carmel. Baal’s prophets were destroyed and the nation turned to God. (1 Kings 18:21-40). Elijah was also exhibited on his way to heaven. (2 Kings 2:11-12).

Paul was conspicuously showcased as a chosen vessel. (Acts 9:15-16).

You too can make it to God’s showroom if only you surrender your life to Jesus-the Master Sculptor- who is able to save, sanctify you and use you as a vessel unto honour.

2. CRACKED BUT MENDABLE

When any of the materials being used by a sculptor cracked, he has two options. One, he could work out a new carving so as not to waste all efforts and time already invested in it. Secondly, if all efforts to patch prove abortive, he drops the wood for another e.g Saul (1 Sam. 13:13-14); Eli (1 Sam 3:11-14).

Examples of “log of wood” that were showpiece but cracked and were mended until they ultimately became mighty carvings (masterpieces) abound in the Bible: David- (2 Sam.12:7-13); Peter (Mark 14:66-72; John 21, 15-17) etc. Drop your backsliding and compromise. Stop betraying the Lord. Stop struggling with the Holy Spirit in all areas, yield yourself completely to Him. – (Acts 5:1-9). You can become God’s masterpiece.

CONCLUSION: God is still working on you. Allow Him.

QUESTIONS

  1. What is the difference between a masterpiece and a showpiece?.
  2. Give the examples of God’s showpiece.
  3. What can you do in order to become God’s masterpiece?

TOPIC: Physical Breakthrough

OPENING PRAYER: Father, give me breakthrough quickly. (Scroll down for RCCG Sunday School 7 April 2019 HYMN)

MEMORY VERSE: “And he removed from thence, and digged another well; and for that they strove not: and he called the name of it Rehoboth; and he said, For now the LORD hath made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land.” – Genesis 26:22 (scroll down for RCCG Sunday School 7 April 2019 HYMN)

BIBLE PASSAGE: Genesis 26:1-14 KJV (RCCG Sunday School TEACHER’s Manual 7 April 2019)

1 And there was a famine in the land, beside the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went unto Abimelech king of the Philistines unto Gerar.

2 And the LORD appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of:

3 Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father;

4 And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed;

5 Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.

6 And Isaac dwelt in Gerar:

7 And the men of the place asked him of his wife; and he said, She is my sister: for he feared to say, She is my wife; lest, said he, the men of the place should kill me for Rebekah; because she was fair to look upon.

8 And it came to pass, when he had been there a long time, that Abimelech king of the Philistines looked out at a window, and saw, and, behold, Isaac was sporting with Rebekah his wife.

9 And Abimelech called Isaac, and said, Behold, of a surety she is thy wife: and how saidst thou, She is my sister? And Isaac said unto him, Because I said, Lest I die for her.

10 And Abimelech said, What is this thou hast done unto us? one of the people might lightly have lien with thy wife, and thou shouldest have brought guiltiness upon us.

11 And Abimelech charged all his people, saying, He that toucheth this man or his wife shall surely be put to death.

12 Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the LORD blessed him.

13 And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great:

14 For he had possession of flocks, and possession of herds, and great store of servants: and the Philistines envied him.

LESSON INTRODUCTION:

Generally, a breakthrough is a major progress; such as great innovation or discovery that overcomes significant obstacles. In other words, it is overcoming something challenging and having an achievement. A breakthrough usually gives a miraculous result. Breakthrough is often associated with prosperity though it means different things to different people. We can therefore talk about physical (financial, scientific, academic, etc.) and spiritual breakthrough.

TEXT REVIEW: GENESIS 26:1-14 – “OBEY GOD AND PROSPER”

i. God has breakthrough in the creation of light, water and all other things that He made. Gen. 1:1-30.

ii. The breakthroughs are very good and enduring till date. Gen. 1:31.

iii. God continues to give different breakthroughs to His children in substance and in promise sealed in oaths. Gen. 26:3-4.

iv. God gave another dimension of breakthrough to His children through restoration of their values and assurance of their safety. Gen. 26:7-11.

v. God give breakthrough through bumper harvest. Gen. 26:13.

vi. God give breakthrough in terms of material possession to the extent of envy. Gen. 26:14.

vii. God give all round breakthroughs until His children becomes very great. Gen. 26:13.

Two (2) things launched Abraham into breakthrough:

i. Obedience to God’s voice. Gen. 26:5.

Women Who Put On Men’s Wears Are Abomination To God – Pastor Kumuyi

Published

on

Pastor William Kumuyi, the G.O of Deeper Christian Life Ministry, on Sunday said women who put on men’s wears are abomination unto God, PMNews reports.

According to the outlet, Kumuyi, who was preaching on the topic: “The Inner and Outward Beauty of Kingdom Citizens,” said the Bible specifically warned that men should not put on women’s wear neither should women put on men’s wears.

He noted everybody would frown if a preacher come to the pulpit putting on a woman’s wear as people would think he was abnormal, adding that the society seemed to appreciate women putting on men’s wears than men putting on women’s wears.

He said the standard of God would never change even if the world would change, emphasising that God frowned at any woman wearing men’s wears or men putting on women’s wears.

According to him, some Christians felt inferior because they were not copying the standard of the world, while challenging such people to keep on obeying God’s word rather than the world.

Kumuyi stated that the outward beauty that the world seemed to appreciate bred pride and arrogance, saying that the inner beauty gotten through Salvation in Christ should be coveted by all as such would lead to heaven.
